NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A homeless woman was arrested Wednesday after police said she repeatedly stabbed a mother as she protected her young daughter on a Downtown Brooklyn street.
Lequasiah Lawrence, 25, was charged with attempted murder and assault for the unprovoked Monday attack.
The 34-year-old victim was pushing her 3-year-old daughter in a stroller at Jay and Tillary streets around 3:30 p.m. when Lawrence allegedly walked by and picked a fight with her.
The woman was yelling and threatened to harm the girl, so the mom stepped between her and the stroller.
That's when Lawrence took out a knife and stabbed the mom once in the chest and multiple times in both legs, police said.
The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition.
Her daughter was not injured in the attack, police said.
