NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD is investigating a crash on the Belt Parkway in Queens that left one woman dead and a man critically injured over the weekend, police said Monday.

At approximately 3:47 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision on the Belt Parkway in the vicinity of 233rd Street in Laurelton.

Further investigation by the NYPD's Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad determined that a white Toyota Camry was traveling eastbound on the Belt Parkway, when the 27-year-old driver failed to navigate the roadway, and the vehicle collided with sand barrels.

Both the driver and a 30-year-old male passenger were ejected from the vehicle.

EMS transported the male to North Shore University Hospital in critical condition.

The identity of the deceased is pending family notification.
