NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A woman died and eight other people were injured in a crash involving an ambulance in Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
The private ambulance was struck by a Nissan Maxima and flipped over at Avenue N and Schenectady Avenue in the Flatlands neighborhood just before 3 p.m., according to the FDNY and police.
The ambulance was carrying six EMS workers, as well as a cardiac patient. Police said the patient, a 95-year-old woman, died en route.
Video obtained by WNBC shows the Nissan T-boning the ambulance at the intersection, causing it to overturn.
Citizen App video shows the ambulance on its side at the intersection and a Nissan with front-end damage nearby.
The FDNY said eight people suffered minor injuries in the crash. It wasn't immediately clear if the Nissan driver or any pedestrians were among those injured.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
