NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A 67-year-old woman died a month after she was hit by a school bus near her Lower Manhattan home, police said Tuesday.
According to police, cops responded on Dec. 16 at around 1:45 p.m. to a 911 call about a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Monroe Street and Catherine Street.
Responding officers found the victim, later identified as Ahhon Lau, unconscious and unresponsive with body trauma.
EMS transported her to NYC Health & Hospitals/Bellevue, where she was pronounced deceased on Sunday.
The 63-year-old bus driver, who remained at the scene, struck Lau as she walked down Monroe Street, according to officials.
An investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad remains ongoing.
Notably, her death came a day before a 15-year-old girl was fatally struck by another school bus driver who fled the scene. He has since been charged with failure to stop to for a pedestrian and failure to use due care.
