NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police are searching for a suspect who they say groped a woman at a Canal Street station in Chinatown, two hours before another woman was raped there.

The NYPD released surveillance images Monday of the suspect in the sexual assault. There was no immediate indication from police that the suspect in the sexual assault is also wanted for the rape.

The 31-year-old woman was aboard a downtown J train approaching the Canal Street station at 12:10 a.m. on March 14, when the man attacked her, according to police.

He came up and grabbed her groin area, then took off, police said.

He’s believed to be about 45 years old, according to cops.

The sex attack happened about than two hours before a 59-year-old woman was raped at the same station around 2 a.m.

The woman was in a stairwell near the 6 platform, when a man struck her and forced her to the ground, where he raped her, police said.

She was taken to a hospital by private means.
