Woman critically injured in LES shooting believed to be pregnant

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – A woman who is believed to be pregnant was shot and critically injured at a housing development on the Lower East Side on Thursday night, according to police and reports.

The 27-year-old victim was shot in the neck around 8:15 p.m. in a building near Madison and Jackson streets at the Vladeck Houses, police said.


She was rushed to New York-Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition.

Police sources told the Daily News that the gunman was captured on surveillance video fleeing the building.

A woman who identified herself as the victim's mother told the outlet that her daughter is pregnant and was shot by her boyfriend, though police haven't identified a suspect.

"He shot her," the woman said. "He was in jail for domestic violence."

WABC also reported that the victim is believed to be pregnant.

No arrests had been reported as of Friday morning.
