
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A woman was seriously injured Monday night after she was shoved by a man into a train pulling into a Manhattan subway station, police said.
The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the West 4th Street - Washington Square station near Sixth Avenue in Greenwich Village, authorities said.
A 55-year-old woman was standing on the southbound F train platform when the man pushed her into a moving train pulling into the station in an apparent random attack, police said.
According to officials, the victim hit the side of the train and fell back onto the platform.
She was rushed to an area hospital in serious condition.
She suffered a fractured spine and broken neck, the NYPD said.
Responding officers arrested a homeless man on the scene.
23-year-old Matthew Montanez from Queens into custody.
