NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A triple shooting early Monday outside the migrant relief center on Randall's Island left one woman dead and two other people wounded, police said.
The NYPD launched a citywide manhunt for two suspects after gunfire erupted around 3:30 a.m. at Field 71 under the Triborough Bridge.
A 44-year-old woman was shot in the face and pronounced dead at NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem.
The two injured victims included a 32-year-old man who was shot in the throat and a 31-year-old woman who was shot in the back, police said.
They were also taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, where they were in stable condition.
The NYPD was searching for two male suspects; one fled in a car with New Mexico plates, and the other took off on a moped, police said.
It wasn't immediately clear if the victims were staying at the Randall's Island complex, which is home to the city's largest shelter for asylum seekers. About 3,000 people live in tents on the site.
Previous violence and other issues at the complex led to the implementation in March of a nightly curfew at the shelter from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
