NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A scooter driver was killed in a horrific crash in Brooklyn on Thursday after she struck the open door of a parked car and was ejected into the path of a semi-truck, police said.

The 57-year-old victim was driving a Hiboy scooter up Fort Hamilton Parkway in Borough Park at the time of the crash around 2:30 p.m.
The scooter driver was riding alongside the semi-truck as she approached double-parked Nissan sedan at 60th Street.
As she was nearing the Nissan, a 38-year-old woman opened the front, driver’s side door of the car, causing the scooter to crash into the door, police said.

The victim was ejected from the scooter and thrown onto the roadway and under the semi-truck, which ran over her, according to police.
EMS responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. She was later identified as Ruzhu Xie, of Bensonhurst.
The drivers of the semi-truck and the Nissan remained at the scene. The Nissan driver was issued a summons for double parking.
No one else was injured in the crash, police said.
An investigation by the NYPD is ongoing.
