NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A woman was raped by a man whose car she hailed in Brooklyn early Thursday morning, police said.
The woman waved down a black Cadillac near Utica Avenue and Prospect Place in Crown Heights around 1 a.m. and requested a ride home from the driver, according to multiple reports.
Instead of heading to the location the woman requested, the man stopped the car outside a building on Ross Street in South Williamsburg, WABC reported.
He then put a metal object to the woman's back and ordered her to go into the basement of a building, where he raped her, police said.
The man fled in his vehicle and the woman was taken to Woodhull Medical Center. Her condition wasn't immediately known.
Police said the woman didn't use a ride-hailing app and it's unclear if the man was a legitimate cabbie.
