NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are searching for a woman who allegedly hurled anti-gay remarks at a man and spit on him as she tried to take his mask on the Upper East Side last week.
The 34-year-old man was in front of a building on 2nd Avenue, near East 90th Street, around 1:30 p.m. on June 22 when the woman tried to grab his face covering from around his neck while making anti-gay statements, the NYPD said Wednesday.
The woman then allegedly threw her bag at the man and spit on him before fleeing the scene, police said.
She was last seen carrying a black backpack and wearing dark clothing and white sandals, the NYPD said.
The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident, the department said.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
