NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A woman stole around $100 worth of merchandise from a Barnes and Noble store before she threatened a man with a box cutter, police said Wednesday as they released photos of her.
Police said the suspect walked into the Union Square location on East 17th Street at around 9:58 a.m. on Oct. 20 and began to steal the items off a shelf.
As a 43-year-old man attempted to intervene, authorities said she brandished a box cutter and threatened him, but he was ultimately not injured.
The NYPD said the woman then fled eastbound on 17th Street.
Authorities said the woman is approximately 40 - 50 years old, 5 feet 2 inches tall, 165 pounds and was last seen wearing a light colored coat, multicolored headscarf, black pants and black sneakers.
