Woman, 33, suffers concussion in Midtown robber's home invasion, $5K stolen

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police on Friday released surveillance footage of a suspect accused of kicking in a door to break into a Midtown apartment this month and steal thousands of dollars in a violent home invasion that left a woman with a concussion.

It happened at approximately 7:40 p.m. on Thursday, October 5th, a 33-year-old woman was in her residence in the vicinity of East 49th Street and Third Avenue.


According to officials, the suspect kicked and broke her apartment door to gain entry.

Once inside the suspect demanded her property and a physical altercation ensued, the NYPD said.

The suspect took approximately $5,000 and the victim's cellphone, valued at approximately $1,000, cops said.

He fled the location in a dark colored Nissan Rogue, traveling westbound on East 49th Street to parts unknown.

The victim sustained a concussion and minor injuries and was transported to NYU Langone Medical Center by private means, authorities said.

The suspect is believed to be in his early 30s, approximately 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 300 pounds.
