HEWLETT, N.Y. (1010 WINS) – A homeless woman armed with ice attacked a Long Island crossing guard before threatening to kill officers at a police station, Nassau County police said Friday.
The madness started around 8:30 a.m. Thursday outside Hewlett Elementary School at Broadway and Stevenson Avenue in Hewlett.
According to police, a Nassau police crossing guard was working the intersection when the suspect, 46-year-old Dominga Rudder, approached and started yelling at her for reasons that remain unclear.
As the encounter escalated, Rudder allegedly threw several pieces of ice at the crossing guard, striking her in the leg.

Rudder fled the scene on foot but was nabbed by police officers a few blocks away at Broadway and Rockaway Avenue.
While officers were processing her at the Fourth Precinct station, she allegedly said “she would kill the officers and knew where the precinct was located,” according to police.
She was charged with assault, menacing, obstructing governmental administration, harassment and making a terroristic threat.
She was set to be arraigned Friday in Hempstead.
The victim was treated for her injuries at the scene, police said.
