NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – The body of a woman that was found in a trash compactor in the basement of a luxury condo building in Chelsea Friday afternoon was identified, the NYPD confirmed.

Police responded to a 911 call at 540 West 28th Street, a building called +Art, at 2:40 p.m. Friday.

Authorities discovered an unresponsive woman in the building's basement, the body stuffed in the garbage chute, police said.

Police identified the victim as 24-year-old Jaclyn Elmquist, originally of Minnesota.

Law enforcement doesn't expect any criminality, and police said that the investigation indicates injuries consistent with falling down the garbage chute.

Elmquist was reported missing after she didn't make it home after leaving a work party in Manhattan Thursday night.

Jaclyn Elmquist's family circulated a "Missing" poster after she failed to return home after a work event Thursday.

Elmquist's cousin posted a "Missing" poster on X Friday evening. The caption to the post read: "my cousin Jackie Elmquist has been missing since last night after she left a work party in Manhattan- she didn’t come home or show up for work this morning please spread the word so people in the area can see it since all of her family lives here in Minnesota."

She was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

The medical examiner’s office will determine the cause of death.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
