
NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A worker was rescued from an elevator on the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge early Tuesday morning, the FDNY confirmed.
According to fire officials, at around 12:30 a.m., the worker became trapped in an elevator on the eastbound side of the Staten Island tower.
Firefighters were able to rescue the worker and one of the firefighters was injured during the process. He was transported to Staten Island University Hospital-North to be treated for minor injuries, authorities said.
The worker was not injured.
