NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are searching for a would-be bank robber that claimed he had a bomb and demanded money at a Midtown Apple bank on Wednesday morning, officials said.

At approximately 10:20 a.m., the unknown man entered an Apple Bank located at 345 Seventh Avenue, walked up to the teller, and stated that he was in possession of a bomb then demanded money, authorities said.

The teller did not comply with the suspect, who then fled the location on foot without any money, heading northbound on Seventh Avenue, the NYPD said.

The suspect is described as a man with a dark complexion, medium build, with black afro hair, last seen wearing a gray long-sleeve button-down shirt, black pants, and black shoes.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
