VIDEO: Would-be robber threatens subway rider with syringe, suspect sought

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is looking to identify a suspect who threatened a rider on a Manhattan subway with a syringe during an attempted robbery that occurred last week.

At approximately 10:45 p.m. on Thursday, August 5, the suspect approached a 25-year-old man while onboard a northbound F train approaching the West 23rd Street subway station in Chelsea and demanded money, police said.

The individual proceeded to display a hypodermic needle to the victim but fled without any proceeds upon the train entering the station.

The victim was uninjured and an investigation is ongoing.

Authorities on Wednesday released surveillance video of the suspect taken from the vicinity of the incident location.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
