VALLEY STREAM, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- A 12-year-old boy was arrested this week after he allegedly stabbed his mom in the chest with a kitchen knife at their Long Island home, police said Thursday.
The boy, who hasn’t been identified because of his age, was charged with first-degree assault and arraigned Wednesday in family court, according to Nassau County police.
Police said the child was arguing with his 48-year-old mom at a home in Valley Stream around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday when the dispute escalated.
He plunged a knife into her chest twice, causing one of her lungs to partially collapse, police said.
She was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
Police didn’t say what the mom and son were arguing about at the time of the attack.
