COPIAGUE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- A man was killed and three other people were seriously injured in a shooting at a Long Island deli on Saturday night, police said.

Gunfire erupted at the La Vaquita Corp. deli on Great Neck Road, near Corsica Street, in Copiague shortly after 6 p.m., according to Newsday.

Manuel Cruz-Hernandez, 47, was killed and three others, including the owner of the deli, were injured, police said.

Two people were hospitalized in critical condition. A third person was in serious condition, CBS New York reported.

Deli owner Bolivar Rodriquez was among those critically injured. His son, Oscar Rodriguez, told Newsday that his father has owned the deli for 27 years and is well-known in the area.

"He would give you the shirt off his back," Rodriguez said. "If you didn't have food, he would come give you a plate for free if you needed it. Anything you needed he would give it you."

Suffolk police said Sunday night that they arrested and charged Dionicio Calderon-Oseguera, 62, with one count of murder in the second degree and three counts of attempted murder in the second degree. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.
