Man, 81, beaten, hospitalized after road rage attack in NJ: officials

BAYONNE, N.J. (1010 WINS) — An 81-year-old man was hospitalized after he was beaten by another driver in a road rage incident in New Jersey Tuesday morning, according to Bayonne police.

Bayonne Captain Eric Amato said the incident happened at 10:48 a.m. in the vicinity of Hook Road and Route 440 in Bayonne, near the Bayonne Crossing shopping center.

The victim was stopped at a traffic light when he got into a dispute with the driver of the vehicle behind him, Amato said.

Officials said the other driver exited his vehicle and retrieved a fiberglass object from his trunk and then beat the victim in the head and face through the open driver’s door window. before fleeing the scene.

The victim suffered injuries to his left eye and face and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, Amato said.
