PASSAIC, N.J. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A man was arrested over a quarter century after he allegedly stabbed a victim multiple times in New Jersey, and he was charged with attempted murder this week, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office announced on Friday.
Ramon Florentino Siri, 77, was arrested on Tuesday in relation to the 1997 attack that occurred in Passaic, prosecutors said.
Siri, who is from Passaic, is charged with first-degree attempted murder, second- and third-degree aggravated assault and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
The incident occurred at about 10:33 p.m. on Sept. 4, 1997. Passaic police responded to a report of an assault near Henry Street and Leonard Place, where they discovered a victim, who was suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Officials said that the victim, who was not identified, was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson.

On Tuesday, police became aware that Siri was in Passaic. Officers located Siri and arrested him at about 4:22 p.m. without incident.
