NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man beat his girlfriend to death with a potted plant at a long-term care facility in New Jersey this week, authorities said.
Deymis Jimenez, 32, allegedly entered a common area at the Meadow View Care Center in Monroe around midnight Monday and attacked the unidentified 47-year-old woman, who was watching television, according to court records obtained by NJ.com.
After entering the room, Jimenez turned off the lights and allegedly choked and pushed the woman to the ground before hitting her head against the floor and beating her with a large potted plant, authorities said.
The attack was reportedly captured on surveillance video.
The woman later died, while Jimenez was found in his room with bloody clothing under his bed, according to authorities.
Court records show that Jimenez and the woman had been dating for over a year. It's unclear if she lived at the center.
Jimenez was charged with murder and also faces weapons charges, according to the report.
