NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man who was shot by the police after they allegedly found him stabbing a woman with scissors inside a New Jersey hotel room was charged on Monday, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office.

The Old Bridge Police Department received a call to the Hampton Inn at 300 Spring Valley Rd. in Old Bridge about a disturbance around 3 a.m. Sunday.


When police arrived at the scene, Christopher Serrano, 42, was allegedly stabbing a 55-year-old woman with scissors.

In response, officers shot at and struck Serrano, prosecutors said.

Serrano was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and is being treated for his injuries, according to prosecutors.

The victim was transported to the same hospital with multiple stab wounds. 

Prosecutors said that she was treated for her injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

Serrano was charged with first-degree attempted murder, fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

An investigation is ongoing.
