DUMONT, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey man was arrested after allegedly fatally striking a 79-year-old woman with a fireplace poker on Saturday, authorities said.

Just before midnight, the woman was hit at a New Milford Avenue home in Dumont, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office said.
The unidentified 40-year-old attacker was arrested soon after and police are investigating the incident as a homicide.
According to the Daily Voice, the suspect is the victim’s son.
