NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man died after an SUV driver hit him as he was walking on a Long Island highway early Thursday morning, police said.
The man was in an eastbound lane on Sunrise Highway, about 1,000 feet from Exit 49 in Sayville, around 2:35 a.m. when a driver in a 2006 Jeep Liberty struck him, Suffolk County police said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, the department said. His name and age weren't immediately released.
The Jeep Liberty driver stayed at the scene after the crash and has not been charged, police said.
