Man knocks boy to ground, beats his face with bicycle at LI elementary school: police

NORTH BELLMORE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) – A man knocked a boy to the ground and then beat him in the face with a bicycle on the grounds of a Long Island elementary school over the weekend, police said Monday as they released photos of a suspect.

The 13-year-old boy was riding his bike in the parking lot of Newbridge Road Elementary on Newbridge Road in North Bellmore around 12:30 p.m. Sunday when the man approached him, also on a bike, according to Nassau County police.

The man purposely slammed his bicycle into the boy, causing the child to fall off of his bike and onto the ground, police said.

As the boy was lying on the ground, the man struck him in the face with his bicycle multiple times, according to police.

The suspect was last seen fleeing northbound on Newbridge Road, police said.

Officers responding to the assault found the boy at the scene with several injuries. He had swelling and bruising to his right eye, as well as lacerations to his stomach and legs.

The victim was treated at the scene and eventually released, police said.

Photos released by police Monday show the suspect riding a bicycle and walking near a parking lot without a shirt or shoes on. Police believe he's in his 30s.
