SOUTH FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) – A man with crack cocaine was arrested for shooting a "large flame" at a bulldog and violating a protection order on Long Island over the weekend, Nassau County police said Sunday.

The arrest came as police responded Saturday afternoon to a home in South Farmingdale, where a 53-year-old woman informed cops she had an argument with her son, who then left.

Rorenise Toafili, 30, was then arrested after the officers determined an order of protection had been violated, police said. He was allegedly in possession of a rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine.

During the investigation, police also determined that Toafili had been at the home on Friday, when he allegedly “used a lighter to shoot a large flame” at a one-year-old English bulldog in the backyard, police said.

According to police, he also grabbed the dog by excess skin and “twisted and pulled the dog off the ground,” before the dog tried to bite him to get free.

He faces charges of criminal contempt, harassment, torturing or injuring an animal, aggravated cruelty to animals, and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
