NEWARK, N.J. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Officials arrested a man at Newark Liberty International Airport after a loaded gun was found in his bag at a security checkpoint over the holiday weekend, authorities said Tuesday.
According to the Transportation Security Administration, the man's backpack contained a 9mm handgun with two loaded magazines totaling 30 bullets.
The gun was discovered on Saturday by agents as it passed through an X-ray machine at Terminal A.
The man was arrested and faces state weapons charges and up to a $15,000 fine.
The gun arrest was the fourth at the airport this year.
