Man’s body found behind LI strip of businesses, cause of death unknown

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A man’s body was found on Wednesday behind a Long Island building that is home to a strip of businesses, and while homicide detectives were on the scene, his cause of death is still unknown.

According to the Suffolk County Police Department, at 12:05 p.m. the body of a man was discovered behind 345 Washington Ave. in Brentwood.

A preliminary investigation and exam were unable to determine the man’s cause of death.

The exact address of where the body was found belongs to a pizzeria named Pita & Pizza, but the restaurant also shares a storefront with a convenience store and T-Mobile.

Police said that the body was found behind the building, which is comprised of an alley and dumpsters.

According to News12, investigators said that the man sustained injuries to his chest, which could have resulted from a fall.

The identity of the man, and his cause of death, will be determined by an autopsy by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office.
