Men arrested for firing gun at woman driving on Long Island

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — Two men were arrested for allegedly firing shots at a woman driving on Long Island on Sunday night, and were found with a handgun during their apprehension, according to Nassau County Police.

Just before 11 p.m., a woman was driving a black Infiniti Q50 north on Prospect Avenue in East Meadow when detectives said a red Cadillac sedan “aggressively changed lanes” in front of her and fired about two shots at her.

The shooting happened near Lancaster Street and Freeman Avenue, and then the Cadillac fled the scene, police said.

Officers found the Cadillac in front of a 7-Eleven on Newbridge Road, and police arrested 33-year-old Anthony Beltran and 45-year-old John Messina without incident.

A loaded .25 caliber handgun, a switchblade and a white, powdery substance believed to be cocaine was recovered during the investigation, police said.

Both men were hit with multiple weapons and drug charges, as well as reckless endangerment, menacing and criminal possession of stolen property.

Messina and Beltran, both of Nassau County, were scheduled to be arraigned in Hempstead on Monday.
