NEW CANAAN, Conn. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Missing Connecticut mother of five Jennifer Dulos was declared dead more than four years after her 2019 disappearance.

A judge issued the declaration of death in Darien-New Canaan Probate Court back on Oct. 24, 2023, according to court documents obtained Tuesday by CT Insider.

The decision was made after Dulos' mother, Gloria Farber, petitioned the court in August 2023 to declare her daughter dead.

Farber, 88, said she wanted to make sure her daughter's estate was in order in the event of her own death. Dulos left all her assets to her children, who Farber is now the guardian of.

Dulos reportedly signed the will in April 2017, about two months before she filed for divorce from her husband Fotis Dulos, who was charged with murder and kidnapping in her disappearance before killing himself.

"Extensive efforts have been made by local and State Police authorities to locate her body," Judge William P. Osterndorf reportedly wrote in the decision to declare Dulos dead.

"To date," Osterndorf continued, "more than four years have passed and the body of Jennifer has not been located. Neither Jennifer’s mother, children, other family members and friends have been contacted by Jennifer since May 24, 2019. The inescapable conclusion is Jennifer is deceased."

Dulos has not been seen since she disappeared after dropping her kids off at school that day in May. She was reportedly embroiled in a heated custody battle at the time.

Facing charges in the case, Fotis Dulos took his own life in late January 2020. He insisted he was innocent in a suicide note found at his Farmington home.

Authorities had alleged video showed him dumping garbage bags containing zip ties with his estranged wife's blood and clothes in Hartford on the night she disappeared.

Fotis Dulos’ ex-girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, also faces charges in connection to the alleged murder and disappearance.

Troconis is set to go to trial Thursday in Stamford on charges that include conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit tampering with evidence. She has pleaded not guilty and denied involvement in Jennifer Dulos' disappearance.
