SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — Suffolk County police on Monday identified a missing boater who fell overboard Sunday afternoon.
James Jaronczyk, 28, was alone on his 22-foot Progression speedboat in Great South Bay when he fell into the water just after 4:30 p.m., police said.
A number of agencies, including the Suffolk police marine bureau and the U.S. Coast Guard, are searching for the boater.
Police have not said what caused Jaronczyk to end up in the water or if the rescue operation has now shifted into a recovery mission more than 15 hours after his disappearance near Babylon Cove.
