Multiple-alarm fire on LI tears through several commercial stores

VALLEY STREAM, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — The Valley Stream Fire Department and several other nearby departments responded to a multiple-alarm fire on Long Island early Saturday morning, officials said.

According to the Nassau County Police Department, the fire began at Orange Skye Day Spa, located at 50 Rockaway Avenue, at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday.

At 9:39 a.m., the Valley Stream Fire Department confirmed that firefighters were still battling a multiple-alarm fire at Rockaway Avenue and West Lincoln Avenue in Valley Stream, and advised residents to use caution in the area.

Upon officer arrival, the roof of the building was engulfed in flames, and the fire spread to several connected commercial buildings before it was extinguished, police said.

Fire Marshals and Arson Bomb Squad responded to the scene.

Police said that no injuries were reported at the scene.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
