NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Former President Donald Trump has appealed a civil contempt of court ruling by a New York judge, who also fined him $10,000 per day for failing to comply with Attorney General Letitia James' document subpoena.

James' office filed a motion to hold Trump in contempt of court earlier this month, alleging he hasn’t handed over documents she subpoenaed in her probe into his business practices.
In court papers, James argued that Trump should be fined "a sum sufficient to coerce his compliance" after he missed a March 31 court-imposed deadline to turn over the documents.
Before Judge Arthur Engoron issued his ruling in a Manhattan courtroom on Monday, he said, "Mr. Trump, I know you take your business seriously, and I take mine seriously."
In response to Trump's appeal, James released a statement saying the former president's resistance is part of his "playbook."
"The judge’s order was clear: Donald J. Trump is in contempt of court and must pay $10,000 a day until he complies with our subpoenas," she said. "We’ve seen this playbook before, and it has never stopped our investigation of Mr. Trump and his organization. This time is no different."
Trump, a Republican, has been fighting James in court over her investigation, which he has called a politically motivated "witch hunt."
