NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A plant-based menu option is coming to Kentucky Fried Chicken next week.

The fast-food company announced Wednesday that it’s kicking off 2022 by teaming up with Beyond Meat to launch the highly-anticipated Beyond Fried Chicken nationwide.
Starting Jan. 10, KFC restaurants across the country will offer the meat substitute on menus for a limited time, while supplies last.
“The mission from day one was simple – make the world-famous Kentucky Fried Chicken from plants,” said Kevin Hochman, president of KFC U.S.
“And now over two years later we can say, ‘mission accomplished.’”
The chicken alternative will be available for purchase in six-piece or 12-piece orders, starting at $6.99 (plus tax). It is also offered as a combo meal with KFC’s Secret Recipe Fries and a medium drink.
The plant-based chicken won’t be “prepared in a vegan/vegetarian manner," according to a press release.
KFC first tested the Beyond Meat menu option in 2019 at one restaurant in Georgia, then offered it at select restaurants in Tennessee, North Carolina and California in 2020.
KFC is owned by Yum Brands, which is also working to create a plant-based offering with Beyond Meat for Taco Bell.
