NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- There were 3,054 reported COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. Wednesday -- the highest single-day total of deaths ever, according to the COVID Tracking Project.

Another grim milestone: There was a record 106,688 COVID-19 patients in hospitals in the U.S, according to the COVID Tracking Project.

These new figures comes as the FDA is expected to approve use of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday after an advisory committee meets.
