MIDDLESEX, N.J. (1010 WINS) — Police were able to capture an alligator that had been spotted at a New Jersey park over a week ago on Thursday night, authorities confirmed.

Just after 10 p.m. a concerned citizen called officials after spotting the gator near 2nd Avenue in Piscataway, according to officials.
Responding Piscataway Patrol Officer Ian Paglia was able to restrain and place a leash around the four-foot long alligator until the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Fish & Wildlife Division took custody of it.
The gator was first reportedly seen on Wednesday, Aug. 23 in the Ambrose Brook in Victor Crowell Park in Middlesex.
The alligator spotting caused the park to close last week after failed attempts to capture and remove it.
A wildlife division lieutenant indicated that the alligator will eventually be adopted by an area zoo or sanctuary.
