MAURICE RIVER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (1010 WINS) – A couple was killed over the weekend in New Jersey after their car was struck by another vehicle driven by an intoxicated driver, New Jersey State Police confirmed.
The crash occurred around 4:15 a.m. on Saturday when Levon Woods, 25, was driving eastbound on Route 552/Mays Landing Road near Ingersol Avenue in Maurice River Township. According to the New Jersey State Police, Woods' vehicle crossed the centerline and collided with a westbound car.
Thomas Splinter, 57, and his passenger, Nancy Orellana-Splinter, 29, who were in the westbound vehicle, both died from their injuries, police said.
Woods sustained moderate injuries in the crash.

According to municipal court records, Woods was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, reckless driving, and making an unsafe lane change, NJ.com reported.
Thomas and Nancy were married in September, according to a Facebook post by Nancy Orellana-Splinter.
An investigation is ongoing.
