TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- New Jersey added Oregon and Washington to its travel advisory on Wednesday as the state reported nine new COVID-19-related deaths, Gov. Phil Murphy said.

As of Wednesday, 43 states meet the criteria for New Jersey's travel advisory: Alabama; Alaska; Arizona; Arkansas; California; Colorado; Florida; Georgia; Guam; Iowa; Idaho; Indiana; Illinois; Kansas; Kentucky; Louisiana; Maryland; Massachusetts; Michigan; Minnesota; Missouri; Mississippi; Montana; North Carolina; North Dakota; Nebraska; New Mexico; Nevada; Ohio; Oklahoma; Oregon; Puerto Rico; Rhode Island; South Carolina; South Dakota; Tennessee; Texas; Utah; Virginia; Wisconsin; West Virginia; Washington; and Wyoming.

Travelers entering New Jersey from those states must self-quarantine for 14 days. Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Delaware all meet the criteria as well, but have not been added to the advisory due to the "interconnected nature of the region," the release noted.

"As a second wave of COVID-19 has begun across the nation and our state, we must do everything possible to stop the further spread of COVID-19," Murphy said in a statement.

"It remains our top priority to ensure the safety of New Jersey residents, and we ask individuals arriving from these 43 states to get tested for COVID-19 and self-quarantine for 14 days," he added.

Murphy reported 2,472 new positive COVID-19 test results on Wednesday, pushing the state's total to 245,257. Essex, Union, Middlesex and Bergen counties all reported more than 200 new cases.

The nine new COVID-19 fatalities brought the state's death toll to 14,591.

As of Tuesday, 1,213 people in the state were hospitalized with confirmed or probable COVID-19 cases, 238 of whom were in intensive care and 80 of whom were on ventilators, the state's COVID-19 tracker shows.
