Paul Haggerty, 39, became one of the latest Garden State residents to take action against the chain, according to NJ Advance, claiming the hot coffee he bought from a Dunkin' in Lyndhurst in September 2020 had spilled on him due to a mismatched lid and cup.

"As a result, [the] excessively hot contents spilled on the plaintiff," which caused second and third-degree burns on "various parts of his body," the suit reads, which was filed in April in Superior Court of Bergen County.

It also alleges his injuries left him unable to work and with costly medical bills.

A Dunkin' spokesperson told the outlet it does not comment on current or pending litigation involving their franchises.

Haggerty's lawsuit is reportedly at least the fourth "hot coffee" complaint filed in New Jersey in the past three months.
