BAYONNE, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A man was run down after attempting to stop a driver from fleeing the scene of a crash in New Jersey over the weekend, police said.
After the crash at 24th Street and Broadway in Bayonne, the 20-year-old victim suffered injuries to his right leg, fingers and complained of pain to his head, neck and chest, Bayonne Capt. Eric Amato told NJ.com.
Andrew Fouad, 25, was arrested at 3:20 p.m. Sunday after police spotted him on West 55th Street and identified him as the driver in the hit-and-run crash.
He was charged with assault by auto and endangering an injured person, Amato said.
According to the victim, after the two vehicles crashed, he got out of his car and attempted to stop Fouad from fleeing by standing in front of Fouad's vehicle. Instead of staying at the scene, Fouad accelerated and allegedly struck the 20-year-old.
