PATERSON, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Police arrested a 51-year-old woman in New Jersey on Wednesday for repeatedly stabbing her 5-year-old granddaughter in their home.
Aurora Villacorta is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and endangering the welfare of a child, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes.
At about 4:10 p.m., police responded to the home in the area of Carroll Street and Godwin Avenue in Paterson, where the girl was found with multiple stab wounds, Valdes said.
Villacorta was placed under arrest at the scene and was scheduled for a court appearance Thursday.
