TRENTON (1010 WINS) – New Jersey reported a single-day record for new coronavirus cases on Saturday—the second time it has done so in as many days.
The state reported 6,435 confirmed cases, surpassing the previous high of 6,314 cases set on Thursday, according to a tweet from Gov. Phil Murphy.
There were also another 1,167 probable cases, though some of the confirmed and probable cases may overlap, officials have cautioned.
The largest share of new cases were reported in Middlesex County, which had 610 confirmed cases and 44 probable.
Essex County reported 560 confirmed cases and 66 probable, while Hudson County saw 549 confirmed and 86 probable.
The state also reported another 102 deaths, bringing the state’s death toll since March to 17,795, not including 2,059 probable deaths.
Statewide hospitalizations fell for the third day in a row to 3,638. There were 652 patients in intensive care and 423 on ventilators.
