TRENTON (1010 WINS) – New Jersey on Thursday reported the most coronavirus cases in a single day since the start of the pandemic, surpassing the previous high set back in mid-December.

The previous single-day case high was on Dec. 12, when 6,247 were reported.

The number of statewide positives through PCR testing is now up to 510,839.

The state also reported 1,560 more positive antigen tests, adding to the 53,959 probable cases in the state. Officials have cautioned that positives recorded from PCR tests and antigen tests may overlap, according to NJ.com.

Hudson County reported 601 more confirmed cases and 105 probable cases, while Monmouth County had 577 confirmed cases and 123 probable cases.

Another 123 confirmed deaths were also recorded statewide since Wednesday, Murphy said.
