CHERRY HILL, N.J. (WCBS 880) — One mall in New Jersey is continuing a holiday tradition this year of restricting unaccompanied minors from the shopping complex on the day after Christmas.

Heather Crowell, executive vice president of PREIT, which owns several malls across New Jersey, confirmed to NJ.com that the restrictions will be in place again this year at the Cherry Hill Mall.
“We will continue with the policy we have implemented for the past few years,” she told the news organization via email.
Under the policy, any child under the age of 17 will be banned from entering the mall, located in Cherry Hill in southern New Jersey, without an adult over the age of 21.
NJ.com reports the policy was implemented three years ago, when a group of roughly 1,000 teenagers broke out into a large brawl that closed the mall around midday the day after Christmas.
According to the report, shoppers were stuck inside of stores for hours after workers locked doors and gates while the chaos ensued.
The policy allows for one parent or supervising adult to accompany up to four minors, NJ.com reported. Proof of age will be required upon entry starting at 4 p.m. until the mall closes.
The Cherry Hill Mall is scheduled to close at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
The day after Christmas, also known as Boxing Day in some countries, is often ranked as one of the busiest shopping days in the United States.
