HOWELL, N.J. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A New Jersey man was arrested for fatally stabbing his mother in their home early Monday, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago announced.
Robert Parody, 25, was charged with murder and a related weapons offense in connection with the death of his mother, 61-year-old Loretta Parody.
Just before 1:30 a.m., police officers responded to a reported stabbing that had taken place at residence on Porter Road in Howell, prosecutors said.
Arriving officers located Robert and took him into custody without incident. Loretta was transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment, where she was later pronounced dead.
An investigation revealed that Robert entered his mother's bedroom and stabbed her in the chest while she slept.
He remains at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending a detention hearing.
