FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A 60-year-old man was charged in the death of his father on Sunday morning in their New Jersey home, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced.
David Allen Hagal's charges include first-degree murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon in the death of his father, 87-year-old George J. Hagal.
At around 7:33 a.m. Franklin Lakes Police Department received a report about a deceased individual at 552 Haddon Pl. in Franklin Lakes.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the man's body inside the home. He was declared dead on the scene.
According to a police complaint, David struck his father in the head with a metal pipe and repeatedly stabbed him, then shoved his head in a bucket of water.
The bloodied pipe and knife were found in a second-floor bathroom, police said.
