NEW JERSEY (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey man is facing federal hate crime charges for a series of violent attacks on four Jewish victims in the span of a few hours, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced Wednesday.

The Manchester man, 27-year-old Dion Marsh, began his spree of attacks on April 8 just after 1:15 p.m. Marsh carjacked an Orthodoz Jewish in Lakewood, forcing him out of his vehicle while assaulting and injuring him. He then drove away in the car and used it in further attacks.
Just after 6 p.m., Marsh was again in Lakewood in a different vehicle when he intentionally hit another Orthodox Jewish victim with the car attempting to kill him. The victim suffered several broken bones.
A little less than an hour later, Marsh was again driving the carjacked vehicle which he used to hit another Orthodox Jewish victim who was walking in Lakewood. Marsh then got out of the car and stabbed the man in the chest injuring him.
The crime spree went on until about 8:30 p.m. when Marsh attacked his last victim in the stolen vehicle, hitting another Orthodox Jewish man who was walking in nearby Jackson Township. The victim suffered several broken bones and internal injuries.
Authorities arrested Marsh at his home a few hours later at 12 a.m on April 9.
Marsh is charged with four counts of violating the federal Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act and one count of carjacking. Marsh is also charged with willfully causing bodily injury to four victims, and attempting to kill and cause injuries with dangerous weapons to three of them, all because they were Jewish. He faces a life sentence for attempting to kill the victims and 10-15 years for the other charges.
