BAYONNE, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey man who refused to leave a 7-Eleven store made threats to fight and shoot police before spitting in one of their faces Sunday morning, authorities said.

When asked to leave the Bayonne convenience store on Eighth Street, Matthew T. Harley, 27, refused and became aggressive and disorderly, Bayonne Captain Eric Amato told NJ.com.

Additionally, he allegedly refused to follow police orders and turned hostile, clenching his fists, challenging them to a fight and threatening to shoot them.

Harley allegedly resisted leaving the property despite repeated requests, even after more officers arrived.

He was ultimately taken into custody at 9:20 a.m. and taken to police headquarters to be processed. Amato said that after spitting in the face of an officer at headquarters, he was additionally charged.

Harley is charged with aggravated assault with bodily fluids, terroristic threats and defiant trespass.
